3 Brouzins and a Brouzinita

Sneaking downstairs in the basement wasn't enough. The brouzins get upstairs too. Justin has been squeezing through the broken rail of the staircase banister for months. I thought Aiden was too big to do the same but he proved me wrong this week. The two escape artists are back at it again. Our toddler-partners in crime are breaking and entering all day long.

3 Brouzins and A Brouzinita

Justin has been an escape artist as long as I can remember. He climbs out of his crib, up the stairs through the banister, and over gates regulary. Recently Aiden was recruited to his team. It drives me crazy but I must admit that they make a good team. Justin loosens the gate's latch and then Aiden knocks the gate down. They do this every time I go downstairs to use the bathroom, which is often due to the 101 ounces of water I drink. After bypassing the gate they sneak into the kitchen, then down the stairs, into the basement, then BOOM - they open my bathroom door. Can I get some privacy?
"Oh no! Are the youngest brouzins safe upstairs by themselves?", I wonder. I immediately finish my business and run up the stairs to make sure that Nathan and Ariana don't fall down the stairs, since their older brouzins left the door wide open.

3 Brouzins and a Brouzinita

Day care life is much easier now that our new brouzinitta Ariana is not so new anymore. Nathan's first reaction of intrigue has dwindled so he no longer tries to squeeze or trample her. Aiden's constant desire to pet her head has ended. Whew....it is safe to leave her alone in the swing or on the floor for tummy time without perpetually hovering over her.

The brouzins still, however, travel in a pack. I can not sit or lie down alone without every brouzin flocking to me. They treat me like a human jungle gym...climbing on me, flipping over me, doing handstands on my back or belly. I am always being kicked, or elbowed, or something else painful. Who knew daycare would be so brutal.

Mine-Itis

Does anyone know the cure for Mine-itis? Justin and Aiden caught it first months ago. It is begining to spread. Nathan caught it last week. He can't say the word mine but he snatches and steal toys while screaming....sounds like Mine-itis to me. The fighting and screaming is too much. They have plenty to play with but that is not good enough for them. Buying two or three of every toy does not work either. They still fight over the exact same toy because the other brouzin has it, in there hand, at the time. I've read that kids don't learn the concept of sharing until age 4 or 5. I can't wait that long. Any ideas?

3 Brouzins and a Brouzinita

The cousins travel in a pack.
Picture Arianna laying on my lap after I take a seat on the couch. 10 seconds later Nathan cruises next to us and reaches for Arianna's hair. 15 seconds later Aiden climbs on the couch beside me, leans over Arianna, and grins in her face. 20 seconds after that Justin walks up to my knees and hands me a book to read.

3 Brouzins and a Brouzinita

Arianna joined the team of cousins a week ago. I call her BROUZINITTA.

The thought of 4 babies under 1 roof was scary. After 6 days I'm relieved to report that I can handle it. We had a rough start because Arianna refused to drink from a bottle. It took her less than a week to adjust. Now that the feeding challenge is behind us, I am glad to say, Arianna will fit in quite nicely.

The brouzins love to have her around and show it in different ways. AJ kisses her and calls her baby. Justin has to be near her by climbing in her swing or bassinet and straddling her. Nathan taps her head.

Stay tuned for more episodes of 3 Brouzins and a Brouzinitta

The Names Changed But the Story Remains The Same

Once upon a time there was a sit to stand music player.

On January 6, 2010, as Aiden was playing with it, Justin scooted and squirmed his way in front of him so that he could play instead.
On November 12, 2010, 11 months later, Nathan played with the same music player but Aiden scooted and squirmed his way in front of him so that he could play instead.

Notice the similarities in each photo: (I promise this was not staged)

  • the youngest brouzin is wearing footed pajamas but the oldest is dressed to play
  • the boys are facing the same direction
  • the youngest brouzin is facing the camera as if he is asking for help getting his toy back
  • the oldest brouzin could care less because he got what he wanted

Mommy - Sleep + 3 boys =

After a restless night...
a long day with the brouzins...
after taking all 3 boys clothes off...
and putting them in the tub...
3 minutes later...

I realized that I forgot to take AJ's socks off.

Double Team

The brouzins enjoy the breeze of a fan on one of the first hot days this summer but they double team me once they realize I'm recording them.

Justin taking over

Normally the two boys play together and share toys but today Justin dominates.
He politely crawled into AJ's lap and proceeded to play with his new toy.
Poor AJ. Look at his face while he silenty asks for mom's help.

PeekABoo

Justin loves to play peek a boo with Aiden & I. The video only catches the end of our game but the boys can play and laugh all day.

Adventures in babysitting

This is my 2nd week watching the boys. It is not as hard as I expected. I spend most of the day acting as referee between the two. Justin has learned to crawl and loves to crawl straight to Aiden. I have to make sure that he is gentle with him. Justin is at the stage where he puts everything in his mouth, including my son.
